Your expectations about shopping in Qingdao shouldn't be the same as for the nightlife. You can go shopping
all day long without spending a lot of money (if you bargain hard enough) but it is hard
to party in Qingdao all night long ¨C especially if you are
used to the night life of urban cities in other parts of the
world.
For shopping, the most famous pedestrian precinct is ¡®Tai Dong¡¯: You can find yourself in
the lap of luxury in one shop but also surrounded by fake sneakers
in the next one. What is absolutely recommended over here
in any case is that you buy your tailored suit or dress ¨C
its for sure much cheaper than in your home country.
Shopping in Jimo Lu - the biggest market of Qingdao - is probably
also much cheaper than you are accustomed to in your home country. There will be nothing
that can't be found, rather copied than original: Rolex watches, LV-handbags, Samsonite
suitcases etc.
If you want to combine shopping and nightlife,
visit one of the night markets in Qingdao: The biggest one
can be found as soon as it gets dark on the pedestrian precinct
of Tai Dong, but there are also smaller ones like the one
next to beach number 6.
Nightlife in (the traditional) China mostly includes tea ceremonies or the visiting a Karaoke bar, traditional Chinese usually don¡¯t
go to discos. However, it becomes more and more popular
among young people, so that there are some places like Corner
Jazz, Feeling, Babyface, the New York Caf¨¦ or Le Bang to
go out. You can find a good overview in the ¡®Official Qingdao
Guide ¨C English Version¡¯ in your welcome package.
